1950 Ford Custom Convertible

The term Barn Find is way overused these days. Originally, it was a car that had been parked many years ago. It was all original, low miles and ready to drive with a change of fluids and a thorough safety inspection of all rubber hoses, brakes, fuel system etc. Today, a Barn Find can mean anything from the original definition up to and including a rusted-out hulk in a pasture. Unfortunately, a Barn Find today has more in common with a car in a junkyard than one in a garage. The real attraction of a Barn Find today seems to be in the hunt and the dreams of what might be. I have found real Barn Finds in a Barn and others in garages, trailers and out rusting away in a backyard. Some were almost drivable while others could have fallen apart being winched into the trailer!

For consignment, a "Mall Find", and former barn find as this Custom was left in a barn to waste away then was rescued and now residing outside of our Hallowed Halls. The dream can be yours with some time, elbow grease and a checkbook. Ready for a restoration or customization, this drop top right out of the middle of the shoebox era is ripe for the picking.

Please Note: NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY*

Exterior
Medium Blue still adorns the exterior of this barn find. Upfront we see the original hood and fenders with invasive rust showing on the leading edges of both fenders. The grille has some rusts as does the front bumper and the body panels which are showing chipping and heavy invasive rust on the lower panels. The rocker panels have since been consumed by the tin worm and the backs of the rear quarter panels are showing the same fate. Side spear trim has gone by the wayside on the passenger's rear quarter panel and a large dent is noted above the rust. Dirty glass is noted all around and a torn but intact white canvas convertible top is on and missing the rear plastic window. Black steel wheels with blackwall radial rubber allows the car to be moved around.

Interior
The interior retains its originality, with a metal dash and sparse gauges and knobs. The original carpet has been removed and now greenish yellow household carpet is in but is dry rotting away. Despite all the negatives, the front seats are still in good condition with broadcloth inserts and smooth vinyl bolsters showing a few minor tears. The rear bench matches the front in style and condition but the lower cushion is missing. Side panels and door panels retain their vinyl however they are soiled and torn. An original steering wheel fronts the blue steel dash with its original pulls, slides, gauges and centrally located AM radio and clock.

Drivetrain
A 239ci V8 in non-running condition has a 3-speed manual transmission attached along with a 3.78 geared rear axle.

Undercarriage
While not being put up on our lift, we encourage a thorough inspection of the undercarriage. We note drum brakes all around and an independent coil spring front suspension working with a leaf spring arrangement in the rear.

A barn find certainly in need of ambitious restoration, or go all out to fulfill your wildest customizing dreams. A drop top model from Ford in their history of catering to the masses.
