Description

DW-SPECIAL was released in 1996 with a limited edition of 20 pieces. This is an extremely rare model that is unlikely to ever appear on the market. Since this is a limited edition model, I don't have any official information on hand, but the body is a traditional dread note "DW", the top is colored spruce, the sides and back are solid rosewood, the neck is mahogany, and the ebony fingerboard. and Ebony Bridge.

Yamaha's original M-shaped head, with the traditional tuning fork mark on the head. The position mark is also in the ``cherry blossom'' style that was featured in the custom order catalog, and the finish is in the ``tinted color'' that was popular at the time.

The top of the body is engraved with a leaf design, which is eye-catching. Although it is rare to see a guitar with heel engraving, it is very rare to find a model with engraving on the top of the body. It is a very time-consuming hand carving process, so it is understandable that the production is limited to 20 pieces.

Bracing is scalloped. Gold rotomatic tuner with Yamaha logo, the plating on the knob part won't fade and tuning is smooth.

Equipped with an active pickup system that mixes and outputs undersaddle (REAFLEX BARSENSOR) and internal condenser microphones.

There is a battery box and onboard controller on the side of the body. VOL.3BAND EQ.Pickup balancer, AMF band can be varied.

Even when plugged in, it produces a natural and deep acoustic sound that does not feel distorted.

The top of the body is a glossy top, and the sides and back are a matte satin finish. Rosetta is Avalon, original pickguard.

There are some superficial scratches and rice grain-sized scratches on the top of the body from normal use, but there are no cracks or noticeable scratches on the board. There are some scratches the size of sesame seeds on the tip of the head back, and there are some scratches on the low position of the neck back, but they do not affect performance. There are no noticeable scratches on the satin finish side back. The side jack hole is covered with a grommet. Overall, it is in very good condition considering the model year.

It is well-adjusted, and the string height is above the 12th fret, 6th string: 2.6mm, 1st string: 1.8mm. There are enough frets remaining and the saddle height is plenty.

Although it has been nearly 30 years since it was new, it can still be used for practical purposes.

The raw sound is full of volume, the overtones in the mid-bass are thick and rich, the treble strings have a glossy grain, and the solid solid body allows you to play.

When plugged in, you can create an airy sound by adjusting the blend between the microphone and piezo.

Comes with a custom designed Yamaha high quality hard case, recommended for those looking for one.
