We try to be Friendly to our international customers especially with our:  UPS Standard to Canada,
There were two main classes of F7s: passenger and freight; most passenger units had upper and lower headlights, but this wasn't always the rule.   Many freight units had the lower Mars or Pyle brand warning light as well, but the front end "cinched" inward right where the coupler protrudes so the coupler was "fixed" and could not retract the extra space was there to make room for the coupler and brake hoses.    Due to the rise of ditch lights, which became mandatory on all regular service locomotives in the 1990's, the Mars and other oscillating lights have been retired from main line operations.    The light was eventually replaced either with a metal plate or a stationary second headlight.

This model is of a Passenger F7 locomotive as it has both the ports thru the roof in the engines rear indicating a passenger steam/electric generator and has the 'cinched in' nose to allow for brake lines for freight service.
Santa Fe Railroad had two paint schemes Blue & Yellow Locomotives were freight service white the Red & Silver locomotives had been reserved for passenger service.    When the the government nationalized passenger service in 1970.   The AT&SF leased a fair number of their passenger F-units to Amtrak until June of 1973, when Amtrak received delivery of their first SDP40F's.    The remaining leased passenger F's were returned to Santa Fe, the former passenger locomotives were simply repainted as Yellow-bonnets and Blue-bonnets as a cost-effective way to "lose the red".

The F series used a 16-cylinder version of the 567 series diesel engine, introduced in 1939. The 567 was designed specifically for railroad locomotives, a mechanically aspirated 2 stroke 45-degree V type with 567 cu in (9.29 L) displacement per cylinder, for a total of 9,072 cu in (148.66 L). An ongoing engine improvement program saw the FT’s original 1,350 hp (1.01 MW) up-rated to 1,800 hp (1.3 MW) in the FL9 by the end of F unit production. A DC generator powered four traction motors, two on each truck. The Blomberg B truck first used in the FT became the EMD production standard, being used through 1995. EMC/EMD has built all of its major components since 1939.  There were several options that could be specified by customers, such as type and mounting location of horns, bells, and the like.

Either a passenger or freight style pilot could be ordered. The passenger pilot, similar to that standard on EMD E units, sloped smoothly down from the bottom of the nose, making a single slope all the way down from the headlight. The coupler was retractable with concealing doors. The result was a very attractive appearance that enhanced the impression of a powerful and speedy machine.  The freight pilot curved inward a little way below the bottom of the nose before sloping out again, to give more clearance to the coupler and hoses. The coupler was fixed and protruded through a rectangular opening in the pilot. **

For our international customers: YES!! we do combine shipping. The most economical way for you to buy multiple items from us is for you to send us a list of the items you want to buy. Do not purchase them as they are listed!! (This leads to higher than necessary fees & shipping.) Send us a complete list of all the items you want. Then we will cancel the listings for the items and turn them into a special listing just for you (We'll send you the listing named before making it active). It will have your full purchase with the correct shipping box size and weight. This saves you on the international fees & shipping.
