1976 Ford F250 Ranger Longbed 4x4 Pickup

For consignment, a rarity of the truck world in the form of a great looking, low mileage, and tastefully upgraded Ford F250 4x4 pickup.  Add in that these days pickup trucks are hotter than the Las Vegas sun, we have this great example with lots of new parts including an engine that was installed in early 2020.

Exterior
All steel panels are maintaining their factory specifications with well minded gaps and all draped in a wonderful coating of Candy Apple Red and White.  The chrome bumpers are in good shape as is the rest of the metal work including big side mirrors, window trim, rain guards, and side body trim.  Beefy step ups are a welcome sight to take your position in the stratosphere.  The Ford embossed tailgate is classic in red and white and the cab lights on the roof give this big truck a bigger presence at night.  A diamond plate steel toolbox is mounted behind the cab and the bed is coated in black rhino style coating and has had some usage.  16-inch wheels are painted white with polished trim rings and carry 305/70R16 all terrain tires.  Chrome exhaust tips shoot out behind the rear wheels and a tow hitch juts out from under the rear bumper.  A sliding rear window allows air flow and access to the toolbox.  We note some areas of chipped paint, some rust bubbles, some actual rust peeking through on lower areas, along with some other paint imperfections.

Interior
Molded red plastic door panels with silver lined inserts look fresh and clean.  The bench seat is fully covered with a hunting camouflage cloth cover.  The two spoke steering wheel is standard with wood applique in the horn section.  Red vinyl and steel surround the dashboard which is framed in more faux wood.  Three square gauges fit the motif of the truck and the center stack has the heat and AC controls and an AM/FM radio.  Everything looks clean and tidy inside, especially the red paint which is so glossy it looks wet.  We note a Tekonsha electronic brake control unit mounted under the dash.  The shifter is floor mounted and resides in front of the transfer case range selector.  Our consignor states a radio-phone adapter is present in the truck.  The crimson carpet is in good condition and the light headliner and sun visors look great.

Drivetrain
A 390ci V8 was added to the truck at 69,000 miles which is fueled by a 4-barrel Holley carburetor bolted to an Edelbrock intake.  Big chrome valve covers dominate a crowded but clean engine bay.  A New Process 435 4-speed manual transmission is the heavy duty unit behind the engine and 4.10 gears are present at both ends with a Dana 60 in the back.  Both the transmission and transfer case have been rebuilt.  The consignor also states a new wiring harness has been installed as well as a new battery.  Power disc brakes up front with power drums in the rear.

Undercarriage
Dual exhaust starts at headers, then travels wide down the sides of the undercarriage to meet Turbo mufflers before turning sharply outward to exit.  Everything is relatively clean underneath with some rubberized coating per the consignor and easy access to rear axle, driveshaft and other components.  Minor areas of surface rust are not of concern and we do note one area of floorboard patch and paint.  Some good ol' American mud under there, but no extra charge for it.  Leaf springs suspension and Rough Country shocks will help absorb those off road bumps.

Drive-Ability
We take the elevator to the top floor and find our perch in an office with a view.  The standard dash makes it feel like 1976 all over again and it's wonderfully analog and classic.  We crank the big boy up and the new wires and new battery don't let us down.   Around the loop we go with all the confidence and potential our forefathers must've felt when they signed the Declaration of Independence exactly 200 years before this truck was built.  Great acceleration, a smooth ride on 70-series tires, and a comfortable, commanding view of the road. We noticed that the horn did not toot and the air conditioning has been removed.

An all-American truck that's heavy duty and ready to work.  This truck would make Pee Wee Herman (RIP) feel like an Alpha dog as you gaze down on the plebeians and their commuter cars below.  You don't have to live or work in the woods or desert to own this thing, but you could.  This is a go anywhere, do anything, can do kind of rig.
