1930 Ford Model A Coupe

For consignment, this 1930 Model A coupe that is a hot rod dish made with some of the best ingredients...a quintessential ride that has the stance, the flames, the polish, and the thunder; a car that would look as good in the corner of your living room as it will in the garage.  But don't deprive the public from seeing this awesome car.  You know you've always wanted a hot rod to take to shows and meets...well, someone has built it for you and it's here waiting for you!

Exterior
The tradition of hot rod flames goes way back and the licks on this car go from the firewall, (appropriately,) all the way down the length of the car...the blue and mauve flames explode from the beautifully applied purple paint.  The scribed pinstriping is tastefully done and can be found on the visor, the frame rail, the nose, around the windows and on the trunk.  The fender-less and hoodless front reveals a V8 coated in polished metal and chromed suspension parts that are exposed for all to see!  The headlights are like crystal balls and taillights are smoked for a slightly sinister look.  The open wheel layout also airs out some big meats in the back...pleasantly cartoonish in their massive size, (31x18.50R15).  15-inch Centerline wheels occupy each corner and the rear view is enhanced with a simple chromoly bumper under a big, rounded trunk and chopped top – a classic look that has been exciting observers for decades.  We did notice areas of bubbling on the lowers, hinting to some underlying rust working its way through the finish.

Interior
Gray velour is the dominant material here, covering the modern seats, door panels and side walls.  The seats have a 3-point racing harness to keep you planted and the headrest extends beyond the shoulders for added comfort and safety.  Turning our attention to the front, the Grant wood steering wheel matches the wood dash surround which houses white-face VDO gauges relaying all the information you're going to need to navigate this powerhouse.  The entire dash is topped with a shiny topper...yet more chrome to accent a car with this much "show 'n go".  The headliner is plush and gray, adding to the chromatic interior design.  A Hurst ratchet shifter is front and center, looking serious and very much in place behind the monster engine.  The trunk has a carpet kit in the same piped gray material, making for a neat presentation.

Drivetrain
The heart of this hot rod is a Chevrolet 400ci V8 – the star of the show.  Polished valve covers lead to a high-rise tunnel ram intake which is also polished.  Braided lines crisscross the intake and lead to two Holley 4-barrel carburetors fueling this weekend ride in old school fashion.  Everything else is also polished...the water pump, the alternator, the headers, and just about every nut and bolt.  The radiator hose, of course, is braided.  Rotation is transferred through a TH400 3-speed automatic and gives the power hand off to a 10 bolt rear axle.

Undercarriage
It's refreshing to see exposed suspension and components...no shrouds or plastic covers here...just simple and effective construction.  Shiny bits abound under the car too!  The transmission pan and bell housing inspection cover? Shiny.  The four bar and transverse leaf springs?  Yes...chromed!  The rear diff cover?  Of course...had to be chromed!  All the brake components are polished and power brakes stop this rod, with discs up front and drums in the rear.   If you're gonna let it hang out...it might as well be showy!

Drive-ability
Hot rods were built for straight lines and this one holds true to the intent.  Side pipes provided amplification for the engine which fired eight big cylinders in raucous harmony.  The TH400 shifted crisply, and the brakes shortened straight line acceleration effectively.   The front end lifts on acceleration but the massive meats in the back stay planted and dig hard keeping the car grounded...this is one fun toy!

The Hot rod hobby is alive and well at Classic Auto Mall.  We love it when well-done hot rods grace our halls and this one fits the bill.  It's everything great about hot rods...times ten!   Great color, great flames, plenty of bling, and of course that legendary stance.  It harkens to those days of racing on the beach and cruising the diner and it does so with power and enjoyment one might expect from such a build.

Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).

The largest single location consignment dealer of classic and collectible vehicles in the country is located in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, just 1-hour west of Philadelphia off Exit 298 of the I-76 Pennsylvania Turnpike.
