1882 Gold $5 Liberty half eagle, NGC MS61.  From the famous collection of Chicago brewer Virgil Brand (1862-1926).  Books have been written about Brand's collecting activities, but he was the most active collector - some would say hoarder - of coins in his day.  He would buy entire collections, and make one ledger entry for the whole thing.  His multiple ledgers must've inventoried many hundreds of thousands of coins.  His heirs were still selling coins well into the 1980's, and probably far beyond.  This coin was sold in one of the Jane Allen Brand estate sales (Virgil's daughter), Bowers and Merena, Nov 1983:360 (flip included).  There is very strong luster and lovely, original, deep golden color with just a hint of green.  A perfect coin for your quality type set, and the cool pedigree doesn't hurt at all.  Best of all, this one is available to you at whatever price you set!  Like all of our ebay auctions, this fabulous coin will start at .99 and sell to the highest bidder at the appointed time, no reserves, no games, no funny business.  Just like we've been doing right here on ebay for 25 years!  We must be doing something right.  Thanks for your participation, and good luck!
