This is a True Genuine Vintage Used Parking Meter Wedge or Shim Kit. It will work efficiently on most standard Meters from the 1950s on up for such Manufacturers as Duncan, P-O-M (Park-O-Meter) and MacKay. It will work well on single or double meter heads. The only thing you actually need is 2" INSIDE DIAMETER pipe. I cannot emphasize the "Inside Diameter" Strong enough because 2-1/4" will not work (already made that mistake). On youtube there is a wonderful video put out by Roger Wolf on using this kit. It is entitled "How to Install A Parking Meter on a Pole". I sure wish the computer and you tube was around many years ago when I was trying to figure this (sh)kit out. It took me nearly 2 years and several conversations with various Municipal/DPW workers to figure it out. The Kit is actually very simple to use, but having someone verbally explain it vs. an actual demonstration makes all the difference in the world.

The video is self explanatory. As shown you may need a different washer depending upon the manufacturer of the unit you are mounting. This is a heavy Duty Speciality Hardware Kit that was used previously. It consists of a Bolt, Washer, Three Wedges, a special Trident Nut and a rubber band.  You will need access to the inside (bottom portion) of your meter in order to use this hardware. The ingenious principal is that as you are tightening the bolt from inside the meter base, the wedges crawl up the flat surfaces of the base until they catch the inside of the 2" pole or pipe. Municipalities across the USA have been mounting parking meters to poles in this manner for many decades. For Collectors, you only need a small ratchet to tighten it up for man or chick cave garage display. Municipalities used large torque wrenches to prohibit "Cool Hand Luke" types from stealing the meters off the street. Rare Old School Knowledge is power. Simplicity at its finest.
