From the Steiff Club 1997/98 comes the Felt Elephant On Wheels 1914, EAN# 420115. Officially refered to as the 1914 Felt Elephant Grey 22, the elephant was available only to members of the Steiff Club during the 1997/98 membership year. A little felt elephant was the first animal that Margarete Steiff made as a pin cushion and was given as a gift to friends and customers of her dress making shop in Giengen. A very symbolic and historic animal, the felt elephant has remained as part of the Steiff company since its inception. The 1914 Felt Elephant Grey 22 has been hand crafted from woolen felt. The elephant was then fitted onto a metal frame supported by cast iron wheels, and wears an embroidered red felt saddle. The elephant measures approximately 9 inches tall from the floor to the top of the head and 11 inches from the trunk to the tail. A porcelain medallion hangs from its neck.
This Steiff Club Felt Elephant is new and in absolute factory fresh, mint condition. He comes packaged in his original Steiff box together with the brown Steiff outer carton, both of which have NEVER BEEN OPENED, so the item can’t be in any better condition. A numbered certificate of authenticity is inside the box.
