1940 Packard Hood Ornament. I believe this is a Gem Reproduction. Casting Number is PD801. A Great Display Piece from about 2-4 feet away, but when you get up close & personal, you will see inherent flaws. It should be in better condition than it is, meaning that it appears to have been well kept but the product quality is lacking. Metal and chrome is starting crack. Although not that noticeable at first, you will see the defects close-up. The worst is on the top left side of the hair line. This is one of he most iconic of all automobile hood ornaments that was an option on the 1939-40 6 + 8 Cylinder Models. Known as the "Dounut Chaser" or lesser known as "Flying Venus With Cymbals" as taken from the original 1949 GEM Sales Catalog. I have no idea when this one was made. The Quality to me is lacking but the display appeal is still rather nice. It is correct for the 1940 Super 8. The original had a clear glass wing, this one is plastic in very nice condition. I am probably more impressed by the unique mounting that gives it a lot of character and substance. The long piece of unidentified chrome (Guide #924755) has had the tip ridge ground down & an antique radiator cap is mounted underneath up front. Purchased from a Hershey vendor, I am basically selling this for what I purchased it for. It is a nice long display piece to add in your collection without paying the big money for an original.  Measures 31" long by 4.5" Tall. Weight is 2-1/2 lbs unpackaged.  A lot of pictures have been posted for you to look at to determine if you would like to add it to your collection. You will not find these at Walmart! UPS Ground Shipping is based on 4 lbs to the USA. We honor the ebay International Global Shipping Program.
