Number13 of 265 specially-bound copies, signed by the author on the
Limitation Title page. Quarto (9 x 8 ins); bound by Zaehnsdorf in full
crushed green levant morocco with a three color gilt decorated onlay
design at the of a three chimney factory in the middle of the upper
board, and an orange morocco spine label lettered in gilt; all edges
gilt; marbled endpapers.
Illustrated throughout in color and black and white.
Patrick Brantlinger
wrote an essay entitled 'Dickens and the Factories', which highlights the
role of these buildings in his work, particularly in 'Hard Times', but
also with significant mentions in 'The Old Curiosity Shop', 'Bleak
House', and in 'Little Dorrit'.
