This antique wooden firkin sugar bucket is a wonderful piece of history. Its craftsmanship is evident in its sturdy design and the beautiful patina that has developed over time. Made in the 19th century, this authentic piece has survived the test of time and is sure to add character and charm to any collection. Measures 11.75”H (16.75 with handle raised) x 11.75” top diameter x 12.5” bottom diameter. The bucket features a bent wood, U-shaped swing handle attached by wooden pegs, 4 finger bands (3 on body and 1 on lid, all attached with copper tacks), and tongue and groove construction of wood slats. There are remnants of the original blue/ grey milk paint in several areas (see pics). Also, appears to have been painted with the early bittersweet color. This solid wood, heavy bucket is structurally sound with scratches, chipped wood, water stains, etc. all consistent with use and age. The two bottom bands move up and down likely due to the wood expansion and drying. Please review all photos as they are part of the description.
