Story of a 45 ship convoy attacked from 27-30 Dec. 1942. Thirteen ships lost. The last one was HMS Fidelity, a French ship, whose Captain refused to surrender her to the Vichy Government and had offered her, together with her crew, (incl. the Gunnery Officer: Mlle. Madeleine Barclay) to the British.

The author was Third Officer on Zarian, one of the torpedoed merchant ships, and he includes his own story. His research over many years led to his becoming the friend of his former enemy, Kapitan Leutnant Hansjurgen Zetsche, whose torpedo sent Zarian to the bottom.  222 p
