"Dresden,Published under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge."
A fine map of the City published in 1833 by Baldwin and Cradock, 47, Paternoster Row. There is on this item the additional imprint "Printed by Henshall" who also engraved it. It was drawn by WB Clarke, architect, who drew many of the maps for the series, with images of the principal buildings often found along the bottom, as here.

The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge was set up in 1826 under the auspices of Lord Brougham, the aim being to provide at a reasonable cost material for those self-taught, or unable to obtain a formal education. It published a large number of maps, ranging from countries to city plans.

This is a genuine antique map that would frame up nicely. The handcolouring is original.

Size: the sheet measures approx. 42cms x 35cms.
Condition: A little browned at the very edge, but otherwise in a very good condition.

Postage: £4.75 within the UK. £12.00 to Europe, £18.00 to USA etc.
I have other antique maps (including SDUK City Plans), books, prints, etc. in my ebay shop. Please see my other items.
