While this plant appreciates moist soil, it does not like soggy roots. It does not tolerate drought, high humidity, or high summer heat. Fuchsia is undemanding and easy to keep from year to year indoors when grown in a pot or outdoors if you live in a spot with the right climate. If kept outdoors, you may have to trim dead stems from prior year's growth when the new season starts up.

Description

For a plant that will attract plenty of hummingbirds, look to Lottie Hobby. From early summer to early August, this mini Fuchsia blooms with single, tiny red flowers. After the flowers are done, the plant will produce fruits, edible but not appetizing. This little beauty has small, green, oval-shaped, leaves that have a fern-like quality. This plant is a good fit for the mild summers of the Pacific Northwest. In hotter climates, you will want to protect your Fuchsia from the afternoon sun. This bushy, upright plant works well in containers and borders in the right Zones, and it is also a perfect candidate for keeping as a houseplant.
