On offer is this attractive Austrian powder compact which dates circa 1920 and measures 7 cm in diameter. The case is made of gilt metal with attractive machine turned pattern on the base and elaborately chased sides. The lid has glossy black enamel with silver inlay scroll work design bordering a red guilloche enamel centre. The lid tests as sterling silver.
This compact has firm hinge and firm clasp and opens to reveal a perfectly clear and reflective bevelled glass mirror. The powder well in the base has turning dial mechanism which allows the powder well in the base to be closed, on sift or open to replenish. The compact also retains the original puff. I can just about make out the letters AUS (probably for Austria) in the base.
This excellent quality antique powder compact is offered in very good condition. The case has no dents or dings, no chips, cracks or scratches to the enamel lid. Thank you for your interest.
