Fully working Arcam 7SE( Second Edition) CD Player comes with remote control and power cord. It will compliment very well an Arcam Amplifier and also older speakers as it has a touch of treble added on compared to the older 7 series.

Cosmetically in good condition with some rubbing marks at the top lid as seen in photos.

I have almost all the older Arcam CD Players( 7, 7SE, 8, 8SE, ( sold the 9 ), also I have the CD92 CD73 and CD37. if you have any questions about deciding which model to go for please let me know.

I will post with Royal Mail or collection available from Manchester if required.

WHICH ARCAM TO CHOOSE

It all depends on your speakers, the type of music you are listening to as well as how loud you can listen to music at your home.
  • If you are on a budget go for the Arcam 7 it's a great starter to any medium level hi fi setup.
  • If your speakers are fairly old and lack of sparkle perhaps having paper based tweeters and you can play music at louder levels then  go for the 7SE or the 8SE if you can stretch your budget. The 7SE has added treble compared to a 7 so depending on your system it might be a bit too bright if your speakers are fairly recent with perhaps aluminium/titanium tweeters.
  • If you have a very bright system then I would go for the Arcam 8 that will balance your system nicely and provide yu with that extra bass that the 7 doesn't have.
I have compared the 8SE to a 9 and found the 8SE having slightly more bottom end and a bit more treble. Also the 8SE sounds apparently slightly louder than the Arcam 9. I had to make the test at levels where my Arcam 10 amp nearly hit protection mode cutting off in order to observe any differences. At lower levels they are a very close match so depending on whether you need the extra brightness of the 8SE or not you can get a significantly better sound for your system avoiding spending more money on the 9 or CD92 or even FMJ23.

As a side note, Arcam started refining/polishing the sound of their CD players after the Arcam 9 which can be both a desirable thing or to me it kind of lacks the rawness of the older generation CD players that kind of represent the recordings of the 70s and 80s more realistically. I compared the CD37 to an Arcam 9 and 8SE and found the sound of the CD37 slightly more polished as neutral as the 9( without extra treble ) but lacking behind the punch and dynamics of both the 8SE and the 9. I think Arcam created something special with both the 8SE, 9 and then the CD92 and FMJ23 although the last two have equal dynamics to the previous models but lacking the rawness of their predecessors.
