WWI Japanese Army Type 22 Bayonet w/Scabbard for Murata Rifle - 1st Variation - Nickle Plated - LB-54 - Excellent Condition - RARE

Up for sale is a WWI Era Japanese Army Type 22 Bayonet with Scabbard for the Murata Rifle.  This is the RARE 1st Variation Type 22 Bayonet.  The bayonet and scabbard has been nickel plated.  There is a very faint Chrysanthemum on the right side of the guard.  It has no markings on the blade. It has a serial number stamped on the rear of the Pommel.  The number is partially visible.  Approximate Blade length 11".  Fullered Blade, two screws and washers in contoured wooden grips, Bird's Head Pommel and Hooked Crossguard.  It has no evidence of excessive sharpening.  No nicks or chips in the blade.  Wooden grips are nice, a few nicks and handling marks on the grips.  The scabbard has been nickel plated along with the bayonet.  There are no markings on the scabbard.  A couple minor dings in the scabbard.  See photo's for condition.  See Raymond C. LaBar book "Bayonets of Japan", LB-54, page #62, listed as "VERY SCARCE 6".          

This bayonet was commonly used with the Type 18 Murata rifles.
