Akai 4000DS MK-II MK2 Reel To Reel Tape Recorder Excellent working order
A classic reel to reel tape machine.
I bought this for use in my home studio whilst I was experimenting with recording stuff directly to tape before transferring to digital in order to benefit from some genuine tape saturation, rather than using plugins. Worked brilliantly with drum sounds and vocals. It hasn't been used for a while and I could do with some space so am offering it for sale. It is in excellent cosmetic condition and is fully working. Tape transport works smoothly for play, fast forward, rewind, pause. VU meters work as do all switches and controls. The tape transport path has been kept clean and demagnetised. Those familiar with these machines will know of the Sound on Sound feature that can be used for rudimentary multitracking. The machine also features switchable eq for different tape speed. Tape speed capstan adaptor is present. A manual is included although not original.
As well as being an excellent machine they do look really cool as part of your hifi or studio setup.
Identical items are offered for sale on the 'bay at exorbitant prices, I'd be happy just to recoup what I bought if for so a starting price of £50 seems realistic. It's true value will be reflection of what someone else is prepared to pay for it. P&P will be costly as it is quite heavy.
