Freehold Three bedroom back to brick fully refurbished/modernised terrace house in Millom, Cumbria. Below is a short introduction to the area and it's character. We have used it as a holiday home and Airbnb, but would be equally as good for a family. We love the location and house, but health issues require that we now have to stay closer to home in the Midlands. The aerial photo shows Millom's proximity to the sea, it's the lower town - the upper is Haverigg.

Millom is a small coastal town on the edge of the Lake District National Park with a population of around 5,800. Although not much bigger than a village it has a strong community spirit and has all the amenities of a town including schools, childrens park, Tescos, Co-op, car showrooms, builders merchants, leisure centre, rugby ground, doctors and dentists surgeries, plus all the local shops that you can get just about anything from. It has a slightly slower pace of life that has almost disappeared, some shops still have half day closing on a Wednesday and even Saturday which was traditionally market day, early closing for some has continued. There is only one set of traffic lights in the whole town which are pedestrian - opposite the Post Office. The railway station is approx 5 minute walk away and still has manned ticket offices, manned signal boxes, the trains are diesel powered rather than electric, and there is even a conductor on board for request stops.

Although near the sea, it hasn't been commercialised so isn't too busy. Parking is plentiful and free. Haverigg beach and the waterpark are 5 mins in the car or approx 12 minutes walk - again no parking fees to pay. There is Hodbarrow RSPB Nature Reserve on the doorstep, as well as all kinds of walking routes. It is also perfectly placed to visit the lakes, Coniston is only 13 miles away and half hour in the car will get you to all the major attractions.

The house itself is a traditional terraced house and sits on a wide road with free parking on both sides, no residents permits are required. It has a gated newly paved foregarden and is the normal layout for a terrace of that era with three bedrooms upstairs, kitchen & bathroom downstairs, now with lounge & dining room combined. We bought it three years ago after a local builder/electrician had completed all building works. All the plaster removed, damproofed walls, new steels to make open plan, new electrics including consumer unit, new gas central heating & boiler, new fitted kitchen, new utility area, new bathroom with shower, new skirting, architraves and oak doors. New plaster to every room, there is no wallpaper. Because his trade was as an electrician, he rewired the whole house and fitted more than enough double sockets and put the light switches where they should be. Additionally, new double glazing to whole house, new concrete sills to windows, new guttering and pipework, new drainage, gas meter moved to outside, the whole yard area re-concreted, and all external walls re-rendered. In a nutshell a brand new house in an existing shell. When we purchased, all we had to do was have tv ariel fitted, so we did the two bigger bedrooms at the same time giving us three TV points. We also fitted real oak battens to the windows to attach the curtain rails to, and furnish it.

The layout is through front door to hall with oak mirror, coat rack, and boxed in electric meter/consumer unit. Through door to open plan lounge/dining room. Carpeted in grey with magnolia painted walls. From the lounge to the bathroom is all newly ceramic tiled. Then to kitchen with ceramic tiled floors, new units, electric oven with gas hob, stainless steel extractor hood, matching under counter freezer and fridge. Further on to utility area, again with dish washer and washing machine, then to double glazed back door with switches for outside light and bathroom fan. Then through door to bathroom with bath with shower over, shower screen, toilet, vanity sink.

From lounge to stairs, spindled handrail, magnolia plastered walls, same carpet as lounge to upstairs bedrooms.  At the top of the stairs is the 3rd bedroom which is a single, then to bedroom 2 which is a double with king sized bed, oak wardrobe, oak bedside cabinets. Along the landing to the master bedroom. This bedroom is much larger than you would expect because it spans the width of the house. It has a king sized bed, oak wardrobe, oak chest of drawers, oak bedside cabinets.

The loft is has an easy pull down ladder, has a boarded floor, insulation, and fitted with double electric socket and light.

Briefly, that is it. Everything in the house goes with it. All the furniture, sofas, TV, beds, pictures, curtains, carpets, light shades etc. Basically everything you see in the pictures apart from bed linen. There is absolutely nothing to do, the furniture is all oak, so contemporary and good quality. The beds are new and have had protectors on them from day 1, so buy the house, some sheets, duvets, etc and move straight in.

We are only looking to sell, we don't want anything in part exchange. The house is on Rightmove and being sold by H & F estate agents of Millom.
