*** Gibson J-185 2002 - Maple finish ***
This very classy and beautiful maple Gibson J-185 was made in Montana, USA in 2002 (See official correspondence Email pic from Gibson).
The Gibson J-185 Original was first introduced in 1951 and is a slightly more manageable version of the Gibson SJ200 (Slightly shorter scale length & 0.75" less width wise, I believe).
The solid Sitka spruce top and Maple back and sides give it a unique tone that you don't get on a lot of other guitars.
To bring out the fantastic sound it has (according to Gibson) a 'Fishman Aura' pick up, which sounds great plugged in and in a live situation.
Finished in a beautiful quilted flame back and sides and gas the iconic 'Maltese-Cross' bridge inlays and parallelogram fret markers. This is the more desirable non-cutaway model.
Remains in great condition overall, with some age-related marks that you would expect (eg small edge chip at back of headstock as per pic) - but no notable dings or major bruises. Has some natural lacquer-checking on front body, which gives it that vintage vibe (tricky to photograph).
Easier to hold than the slightly larger J-200, but still packs a punch for rhythm work. Very responsive mids and trebles allowing it to cut through in a band scenario. Works very well for both strumming and fingerstyle. These high-end Gibson acoustics seem to easily hold their investment value.
Comes with a sturdy and lined 'official' Gibson hard case.
Have restrung with D'Addario 80/20 Bronze 11-52 Custom Lights.
Will be packaged very securely before being sent out via Tracked post.
Am on the look out for Guild 12 String F412 or F512, a higher end Martin or Gibson.
