ITEM DESCRIPTION/DETAILS:

These are no longer available from our manufacturer. WHEN THESE ARE GONE THERE WILL BE NO MORE!!

THE BUY IT NOW PRICE IS FOR ONE STANDARD AGED PAIR OF BRACKETS FOR THE C/D COMBO (1st photo on the left) OR THE E COMBO (1st photo on the right hand set) UNITS AND CORRECT BRADS FOR INSTALLATION (again first picture). ADDITIONAL PRICING IS LISTED IN THE AD FOR ADDITIONAL G AND H COMBO BRACKETS AND EXTENSIONS AND CUSTOM FINISHES THAT WERE AVAILABLE FROM THE FACTORY ORIGINALLY AT THE TIME UNITS WERE CUSTOM ORDERED (please refer to the available Globe Wernicke® catalogs available today to verify this).

For those of you who are Globe Wernicke® stack barrister legal bookcase collectors, restorers and fans these are EXACTLY what you need to finish detailing your bookcase units. For the first time in over a hundred years these parts are now again available. These are the Right and Left end cap assemblies for the step back shelves for the C/D step back combo unit, E step back combo unit, rare G step back combo unit and the rare H step back combo series units. The 5TH AND 6TH photos show the units C combo though H combo all stacked on top of one another. This is a photo most people would never have the opportunity to see. The brackets come available in all the possible finishing combinations offered by the factory with the units when they were originally built and sold (please 2nd photo). The C/D combo unit bracket is approximately 3" overall length and 7/8" width. This is the same bracket that was used on the G combo and H combo units but an additional separate extension plate was abutted to the rear of the bracket to fully line the side of the step back board (please see the final 2 picture on the right). The E combo unit bracket is approximately 4 1/2" in length and 7/8" wide. The materials used in the production of these brackets are identical to the original manufacturers. The dimensions and stampings are original down to the last micron. These parts were 10 years in the making. They went through multiple revisions until they were exacting to the originals. We would not settle for anything less than identical parts. Once the patterns were matched then we had to wait for 1-2 years for the manufacturer to work us in between big runs at the factory of other customer’s orders. You would think that these were actually originals unless we told you otherwise. The aged versions look identical to what is on our units. The plated version look like what they would have appeared 100 years ago when built. We can age them further if desired to get a closer match to additional units you may have in your library.  These parts have never been found in any of the Globe Wernicke® catalogs for ordering and may never have been available on replacement from the factory. This may explain why so many are missing from these units today? There is only a limited number of these available and given the very high cost of production/run time additional sets may not be available for some time (if ever) once these are gone. We have also gone to the additional efforts and expense to match the round headed brads for securing the brackets. NOTE: any imperfections you see in the photos are present! Just like the factory ones these are processed and aged and will show numerous imperfections consistent with the originals present on your units. Do not expect perfect items just authentic ones! No two pieces of plated brackets will be identical nor will the Japanning. This is all done by hand. Every finish on the pieces will be unique just like the originals!

REGARDING THE AGING PROCESS & TIGER STRIPPING:

Many think that the process of getting that perfect aged look of these brackets through Aging and Burnishing is easy. It is NOT. We can't begin to tell you of the hours, money, equipment and injuries invested in getting it right. To get that perfect aged look to your antique Macey Globe Wernicke® stacks. We start with a Polished bracket (5th Photo for reference), then soak the bracket in strong stripper for a week to remove the baked on hardened lacquer finish off. The Polished Brackets with their baked hardened lacquer coating will probably never age (SERIOUSLY). Then the Brackets are fine wire wheeled, fine cloth high buff wheel polished with compound, cleaned with thinner, then put into the acid aging solution for just exactly the right amount of time. They are then allowed to dry for 24 hours. Next they are wiped down by hand, then lightly Burnished on a high speed cloth buffing wheel (dry) to give that perfect luster Burnished/Aged look. Because of the exhaustive work involved we perform this process in batches of Fifty Brackets at a time. AFTER the AGING/BURNISHING process then they are Tiger/Japan Stripped if requested at additional cost. WE ARE THE ONLY KNOWN WORLD SOURCE FOR THIS TIGER STRIPING PROCESS. WE HAD TO REDISCOVER HOW TO DO IT AS NO ONE COULD TELL US OR KNEW HOW! There may be a wait time if we are in between batches. The total process takes about 10-14 days (without Tiger Stripping which takes longer). We use these very same Aged/Burnished Brackets, Plain or Tiger Stripped on our own inventory of cases. They look fabulous installed and matching in size. The finishes vary just enough to give the entire stack installation a flawless, authentic to original, aged antique look. Often the stack units have been "married together" over time as more books were added to the library. That often resulted in a diverse different style of Brackets on different sections. This is picked up by admirers (buyers?) of your stack. We universalize all our stacks and libraries. In our experience the Aged/Burnished Brackets that are Tiger Stripped look best on the Oak stacks in Walnut stains (the predominate stain on 80% of all units produced). The Polished brass looks best on the Fumed Oak, Golden Oak, Mahogany stained Oak, True Mahogany and Mahogany stained Birch units. These are all the standard stain options offered by the Globe Wernicke® Macey Corporation. Everyone has their own preference and now we can meet your individual tastes no matter what your preferences are.

About lacquering. The factory lacquered the brackets once the final finish was done. The additional plating you may want will not come lacquered unless you order it additionally. Unlacquered the brackets will age very quickly and loose their luster matching your other older bands in your stack. Or if you wish to save on the lacquering expense you can so it yourself.
