Dr. Bob Kiess Pipes are made from top quality Grecian and Italian briar. The stamping is inspired by the 911 events. There are three grades, the Patriot, Heritage, and Ambassador. The colored dots of red, white, and blue on the bit reflect the American flag. Kiess uses a very unique rustication on some of his pipes, such as this one. With the delightful rustication, it gives that special tactile sensation in the hand that many pipe enthusiasts enjoy. Draft hole is center and just above the bottom of the chamber. There is a wide-open, effortless draw. Tenon to mortise union very sound, snug and flush. Pipe does not accept a filter. Pipe weighs only a mere 1. 39 ounces (39.4 grams). No fills. No handling marks. Pipe passes a cleaner with ease. Comes with a luxuriant, thick felt Dr. Bob Pipes sleeve, as shown.
