When it was released, it was a controversial work as it was suddenly released digitally via a tip system after the band had moved to an indie label after four years of silence. However, the music is also minimalist and shows signs of maturity, and the album has earned high praise from both new and old listeners as one of the greatest works of their career. It debuted at number one on the US and UK charts and won a Grammy Award.
