Special Railway 23J
Hampden Watch Co. 16 size 23 jewel open face lever-set Special Railway pocket watch movement/dial/hands. A very nicely finished railroad grade movement with gold balance screws, gold jewel settings, a polished gold cap around its balance jewel setting, and a sunburst pattern nickel damaskeen. Dial is sunk-seconds enamel with bold Arabic hour numerals. Serial number is 3451391.
Running and lost about a minute over 24 hours. Nice looking movement overall with good color and luster. Larger winding wheel looks to have been polished and has some pitting to one side of its perimeter, and smaller winding wheel has oxide. Regulator has fine scratch striations appearing to have been sanded in its past. Dial has an edge chip above the 11 o'clock numeral that takes out the 56 minute marker and a portion of the 55 minute marker, and dial has hairlines radiating from its center to its edge.
