Vintage original advert from The Illustrated London News, August 1979, showing the Lark Firebird range, made in the US.
Size: 30.5cm x 22.5cm
Advert reads “A great new Lark takes wing
Inspired by the open skies and vivid hues of the Great American desert, Firebird inaugurates a distinctive new look in fine luggage. The famous Lark stripe – itself the spark of a style revolution – is now edged on each side with a thin, graceful red band, flanking the red Firebird emblem. You may take your choice of two striking colour schemes – Green (shown here) and Tan.
All Firebird luggage is covered in Cordura* nylon – the same rugged nylon used for motorcar tyre cords. And this ruggedness is more than skin-deep. Because every Firebird is, first and foremost, a Lark! We build Lark luggage to last. With outer coverings shielded by DU PONT ZE PEL* soil/stain repeller. Double-sewn lockstitched seams, turned and bound for maximum protection. Handles especially shaped to feel comfortable in the hand.
We also design Lark luggage for convenience. And Firebird has all the famous features that make every Lark a breeze to pack and unpack – a pleasure to travel with. Many of the most popular Lark models now come in the Firebird design. Firebird! Yet another reason why Lark luggage is carried by the finest shops and the most experienced travellers everywhere.
Firebird”
