Dinky #101; Thunderbird 2
Metallic Blue/ Turquoise 1972 Version
- Screwed together, unlike the earlier riveted version
- 3 Legs Intact & Working! Fourth leg broke off☹️
- Detachable Pod, Black plastic Door version
- Made approximately in 1972
- Diecast Metal
- Made in the UK
- It’s the size of a big Dinky car, so we can call it 1/43….
Honestly, I don’t really want to sell this. I have another one as well as the 106 but my 101 is in the classic green color, while this version is the metallic blue turquoise. And it’s pretty!
- This Dinky toy is remarkably solid and well built. It is held together by four flathead screws, unlike the previous versions that used rivets. This is very good for those looking to restore the model or even make something new out of it.
- Now it is missing one out of the four legs, but the three surviving legs pop out thanks to their springs just like they did 50 years ago! You can probably install a reproduction fourth foot very easily.
- Also, the two back jets, the red ones with chrome in the middle, have been broken off. Once again, you can easily source replacement jets on eBay. Another thing missing is the silver sticker on the top spoiler. It can be replaced.
- The pod pops out very nicely and has a satisfying click to it. Its two rollers are in fine condition for it to move along. It is the version with a black plastic door, behind which T4 is supposed to go, but the original yellow plastic submarine isn’t included with this listing.
Please see the photographs for a complete description of the condition and feel free to ask questions.
Thank you so much for looking; we have many other vintage items and toys, including Dinky and Corgi available.
