For auction is an attractive antique or vintage  art deco porcelain pin cushion half doll modelled as a charming pierrette, with her hands clasped under her chin while she gazes pensively into the distance.   This doll was made in Germany around the 1920s,  by quality porcelain manufacturers Sitzendorfer Porcellan Manufaktur.

She has a slightly illegible number which i believe to be 22845  incised on the back base. She measures 3.5 ins or 9 cm high  This doll can  be seen a as fig 577-451 on p. 414 in Marion's Half Doll Encyclopaedia and a larger version of the same model is to be found as Fig 5.336 of Vol 5 of the Lorrins' Half Doll books.

This is a very nicely modelled doll and her face is beautifully hand painted with shadowed dark eyes, red lips and nose dots and 3 black tendrils of hair escaping her black skullcap. The image of the pierrette was a very popular one in the 1920s,

She is in very good condition with no damage  that  I can see although please note a fine mark to the glaze on her right forearm which just shows in photo 8 - this is not a crack in the porcelain, just surface crackelature to the glaze.

Please study all photos carefully as they form part of the description . Please ask if you require any further information or photos.
