REALLY COOL vintage koteka or penis sheath from Papua New Guinea made from a dried gourd and decorated with woven rattan.  This one has a face of woven rattan and natural pigments accented with cassowary feathers.  Vintage tag with information states piece was collected by Ian Elliott in July 1998.  Excellent condition!  10.5" long.  Original cord present.  One of the coolest of the phallocrypts I've seen!

Tag reads:  Woven penis gourd made by the Lena Singu of the Iatmul tribe of the middle Sepik River area of PNG.  These items are worn at the male only initiation ceremonies and the faces are related to admired ancestors.
