Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX Computer Surround Speakers Set Subwoofer, Remote
Logitech’s Z-5500 5.1 surround sound entertainmant speakers, one of our all-time favorite picks,
suffers from one serious flaw: THEY'RE JUST TOO DARN GOOD. The Z-5500s stubbornly refuse to budge
from the tippy top of the best in class pile. Amazingly, considering these suckers are
readily available on Amazon ($1,995.00) and have been for some time now, we still can’t find a
better option for discerning audiophiles.
These can’t be beat when it comes to overall quality. And frankly,
the longstanding crème de la crème of Logitech’s speaker line deserves a
little attention for smacking down the competition for so long!
Anyways, the Z-5500 comes packed with four satellite speakers which the cloth grills can be removed for a more stream lined appearance and which can be wall mounted, a
center channel unit and a powerful head banging subwoofer. Each satellite
driver measures 3”, with the subwoofer fitted with a 10” high-excursion
ported driver. The THD we found the sound accuracy
to be surprisingly excellent. All speakers run to the powered
subwoofer, which is controlled by the remote. Easy Peasy!
The wired remote itself is where all the action occurs. There are ports
for up to 6 input devices and a headphone out port, which disables the
speakers when in use. Options include 6-channel direct input via three stereo mini-plugs, optical, digital coax and stereo microphone. You can connect to multiple sources; simultaneously connect 6 audio sources including PC's, video game consoles, DVD, CD, and portable music players.
The main control pod/remote is a desktop fixture as
much as a useful control panel and it does offer quick access to a number
of handy functions. The LCD is easily readable and
displays the current input settings. Nearly every aspect of the sound
can further be configured using a button and the volume knob. Other control pods for Logitech systems maybe compatible. Subwoofer
power, surround channel volume (fade), surround delay, center channel
volume and several other options are also available in different
processing modes. You can additionally elect to pass the signal straight
through from an external decoder, such as your PC card, or decode from
the digital inputs. The microphone/auxiliary input also supports stereo.
For analog audio sources, Dolby ProLogic II Music and Movie settings
are available, as are stereo and dual stereo (mirrored audio on the rear
channels). From thumping techno to soft vocal and jazz tunes, the sound signature is accurate, clear, crisp and expansive. Have I got your attention?
Having auditioned a little over a dozen 5.1 PC setups, we can safely say
these are the best-sounding computer speakers we have heard. They are that impressive. The Z-5500s compare favorably to the sound you’ll get from a dedicated
much higher end and much more pricey setup, and add a level of ease and simplicity that is undeniable.
The Logitech Z-5500 is the best all-around PC speaker system to date. The sound quality is first-rate, the system looks stylish
and the added features/decoders are merely frosting on the cake. As far as PC speaker setups go, you can’t do much better in terms of overall performance for the price and feature set – go get you some! NOW! Stop reading and GO!

Some of the best Speakers I have ever listened to, seriously!!!! Fantastic for even the $2,000 price tag and rivals some of the best speakers in Home Theater at an even higher price!!. Simple and straightforward set up. If you want a rocking system this is the one to go with. 5.1 THX Dolby Digital and DTS Sound. Heck yea!! I'm on it!! I couldn't be happier with this system. Face
it, you buy your speakers for the experience that they give you, and I
believe these are the best 5.1's on the market. I know the
price is high yet it is 100% worth it. If you are on the fence,
and you have the money and need quality computer speakers, jump in and get these. You will not be
disappointed. Once you have them, you don't go back to anything else.
ROCKS MY WORLD, LITERALLY!
I
like to think that I make reasonable, prudent, and quality-conscious
decisions when it comes to tech items, and this Logitech Z-5500 digital
sound system reflects those words along with two others that comes to
mind: HIGH PERFORMANCE! From the highs and mid-range sounds to the deep,
deep thundering bass that only a huge, double-reflex cabinet of a sub-woofer could manage to produce, the Logitech system is
an incredible performing product. That it has close to 600W peak power
is one thing, but to deliver it in the manner that this system does with
superior DAC controllers and amazing line filters is a whole different
ball game compared to less sophisticated systems. For me these are as good as it gets for computer speakers, and I'll be keeping them a long, long time. Worth every cent and then some!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Oh and Did I mention WOW? It is wicked fun and set up couldn't be easier! This
set kicks ass, sound quality is great and will easily last me a long
while. I make use of all the features, am impressed by the sound
quality, and thump shake shake cause im a bass kinda guy. If you
want the best, lots of options and I mean lots, lots of connectivity
great sound nice thump get this setup. You wont be sorry it looks

This beauty was set up for only one in studio post production
project before we had to close our studio. Sound was Phenomenal!
Box will be sent covered in brown craft paper to not disclose the contents. Box is 56+ pounds heavy and is not perfect.
Please do take care when lifting this box or it may be best to slide it on a rolling furniture cart for ease!

We are told you can use a universal remote instead of your Z-5500 remote to control your Z-5500 speakers. Logitech recommends only the Harmony remote, if you wish to use a non-Logitech universal remote, please
consult your remote's user documentation for additional details. Logitech remote is included and untested. Message on control pod on startup when pod and speakers are cool reads mute on over temperature. From the Logitech support site;If you see an over temperature message on your Z-5500 control pod, this means
you have been playing your Z-5500 speakers for too long and at too high
a volume. Once this message appears, the speakers will automatically
shut down for one hour. Once the speakers have cooled off, you will be able to use them
again. This does not apply so after speaking with support we determine the control pad should be repaired or replaced. Please contact us with questions and we will do our best to answer within 24 hours. AV cable not included. Your best offer may be entertained if reasonable. Speakers and sub-woofer alone can be sold separately at a higher price then purchasing this whole set. Please ask.
