This is designated as one of the many variations of the makers College boxes that were and still are very popular

They offer usually a no frills approach or a down to business attitude.

Nearly all of them show an often battered metal label inside stating the model however this one is a rare variation indeed.

Instead of a metal label this box has a paper label as can be seen much like their fantastic wooden boxes. This label gives the opportunity to advertise both their name and address.

Almost miraculously this label is still intact which is most

unusual.

I suspect that this is quite an early box because of the extra thick gauge of metal used in its construction it really is very solid and will easily outlast any modern ones.

Its condition is not at all bad in fact it’s really quite nice in my view.

It also has a full set of WN paints in ceramic pans which is really nice! They are stamped underneath as should be.

The real benefit of ceramic pans of course is that they can simple washed in cold water when empty and filled via tube paints with colours of your choice.

In my view this represents a for the want of a better word a really good watercolour system as once you have your box with pans like these all you’ll ever need are colours. If you feel the need to refine the system why not make your own paints? It’s really not at all difficult and extremely satisfying!
