STAMP ~ MARCONI

Unused, 9p UK stamp issued in 1972 in a series entitled ‘Broadcasting Anniversaries’, and marks the 75^th anniversary of Marconi and Kemp’s radio experiments. The stamp shows an oscillator and spark transmitter, as used by Guglielmo Marconi and his assistant George Kemp in the transmission of a radio signal across open sea for the first time, in 1897.

The stamp has a phosphor band to each side, is gummed to reverse and is catalogued as SG 912.

Size: 4.1cm x 3cm

Condition: Unused, mint
