Today we have for your viewing pleasure a very beautiful controlled bubble orange color trumpet flowers glass paper weight which is approximately 2 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. The quarter in the picture is used to give a better idea of the size of this paperweight.  This piece was made by Joe St. Clair a member of  the famous St. Clair family of glass workers from Elwood Indiana. The paperweight has the impressed mark of Joe's factory on the bottom. The piece is so attractive with the bubbles going around the edge and in the center of the flowers. The St. Clair family was established by Pop St. Clair and his sons. They started working the glass houses of the area in the 1930s and continued with there own shops up until the 1980s, Joe was one of the most active glass makers of Elwood and made many different items to include pressed glass items which were copies of the pieces made by the Indiana Tumbler & Goblet Company of Greentown Indiana. When Joe finally gave up working the bench the tradition was carried on for many years by Joe Rice a grandson of Pop St. Clair who had a shop on the west side of Elwood.
We will be having quite a few paperweights from this family so look back to see what is new. We are only to happy to combine auctions and we pack our items so that the elephants at the Post Office do not have a chance of breaking something. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. .controlled
