'USS Theodore Roosevelt'
is the 4th Nimitz Carrier in the US Navy
and was named in honour of America's 25th president
Theodore Roosevelt.
Numbered CVN (Carrier, Volplane, Nuclear) 71
and with a crew of some 5,000 officers, ratings & aircrew,
the massive ship carries some 80 aircraft including:
formerly Grumman F.14 Tomcats, (retired from service in 2006),
A-6 Intruders, F/A-18 Super Hornets, E-2 Hawkeyes & S-3 Vikings.
Still in service 'USS Theodore Roosevelt' has been
deployed on 15 occasions to date including, most notably
in both Gulf Wars, during
'Operation Desert Shield' & 'Operation Desert Storm'
