Up for auction we have a very unique  Baseball collectable: A  beautiful wooden cigar box transformed into Philadelphia's Baker Bowl circa 1937. Home for the Phillies until 1938 when they joined the A.L.'s Athletics in playing at Shibe Park, later to be known as Connie Mack Stadium. Ironically nicknamed 'The Cigar Box', this little gem of a stadium never saw a world series game but did play host to some of baseball history's most talented and colorful characters.  Gavvy Cravath won HR titles here when double digit homers were rare. The Phils' were usually terrible, but Baker Bowl was a 'interesting' place to watch Major League ball. The sight lines were good, and the PA announcer came out onto the field in a straw hat with a megaphone!

Why a Cigar Box Stadium?  A great looking conversation piece for your den, or as a great place to toss the dice if you play one of the several excellent tabletop baseball games on the market such as Strat-O-Matic, or APBA. This beauty has been lined on the entire interior with .030 transparent plastic to protect your dice-throwing surface, and to ensure a true dice roll. Its approx dimensions are 9" x 7" x 2 1/4" and may become a family heirloom to be passed down from one baseball-loving generation to the next.  If you play dice baseball, what better way to suspend your dis-belief, and imagine yourself at Baker Bowl watching Hack Wilson struggle in RF late in his career here, but where his bat could still do some damage. The cigar box is is good condition.
