Up for auction is a set of animator's model sheets from Ruby-Spears' classic series, "Rickety Rocket," which appeared on "The Plasticman Comedy Adventure Show." (Model Sheets are the reference guides that animators used to keep the look of the characters consistent. They contain various views and/or expressions to help the animators draw the characters. ) Ruby-Spears was Hanna-Barbera's sister company, formed by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1978. About The Show:
Rickety Rocket was produced by Ruby-Spears Productions, and ran from 1979 to 1980, as a segment on The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show. The series is about a future ("Far Out") detective agency run by four African-American teenagers and their makeshift talking rocket (similar in theme to Hanna-Barbera's Speed Buggy). The rocket's signature phrase was, "Rickety Rocket, blaaaaaaasssssst offffffffffffff!"
