Senso-ji Kaminarimon was built in 942 by Taira no Kimimasa, and was originally enshrined with ``Fujin and Raijin'' to protect the temple from storm damage and fire. The current gate replaced the one that burned down in the Great Fire of Tawara-machi on December 12, 1865. After 95 years, it was rebuilt with a donation from Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of Matsushita Electric. Proud.
