Vintage 1940s "PARKER 51" Pen & Pencil Set With Box
Parker 51 Pens are without doubt one of the most beautiful of the Parkers ever made and are highly collectable today This is a lovely true vintage (manufactured in England)
circa 1940s Parker 51 Pen & Pencil Set which was developed in 1939
by Parker during their 51st year in business, and which then went on sale in 1941
The
51 was extremely innovative in a number of ways at its time of
manufacture in regards to the design which was oddly plain yet sleek and
modern, and with most surprisingly its barely visible "hooded nib"
This was most definitely a stationary set made for use, not one for impressing the Office colleagues
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ The
set comes presented in a very nice hard shell presentation case stamped
Parker to the outer and with an inner silky type lining material
labelled Parker 51 There are ridges within the box in which both the Pen and Pencil can sit neatly when not in use Some signs of age, wear and use to the case includng some ink marks to the interior lining of the case
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ The Pen has a classic gold filled arrow
clip design cap and is stamped Parker - 1/10 12ct R.G. (Rolled Gold)
England, 51 at the top of the Barrel, underneath the clutch ringThe plastic Barrel of the pen is Black/Dark Blue in colour
The Gold filled Pen clip is topped off with a perfect grey faux jewel
The
filling system of the Pen from research is I believe Aerometric (but
I'm not an expert on Parker Pens, so I'm not certain and guaranteed of
this)
The
Pen is not currently working, but I think it just needs to be correctly
refilled from bottled ink (which I have not attempted to do, so am
selling the Pen as non-working)
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ The matching Parker 51 Pencil has the same design and is also stamped Parker - 1/10 12ct R.G. (Rolled Gold)
England, 51
The same lovely grey faux jewel also tops off the Pencil
The
Pencil is working and still retains the original lead (I'm unsure of
how much lead it has remaining) and is a click/press top to release the
lead nib for writing
Some of the original Eraser is still contained within the Pencil
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ Both the Pen and Pencil do show some signs of surface wear, use and light tarnishing
commensurate with age and having been well loved, but are otherwise in lovely condition for
a 1940s (now approx nearly 80 years old) Stationary Set
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ ❁ This Parker stationary set would make a perfect gift or a wonderful investment Fabulous for any collectors of Parker
