Shipping with Insurance by USPS Priority Signature Mail. Up for auction is an EXQUISITE "MARQUIS BY WATERFORD" 10 5/8" CUT-CRYSTAL "BARCELONA" CARAFE SLANT TOP. This Hand Blown and Hand Cut consists of 5 inch vertical cuts alternating between 6 inch vertical cuts and 7 inch vertical cuts on the entire bottom half of the carafe with the top part of the carafe completely clear crystal, and the bottom having a 16 petal cut star. It is about 9 7/8 inches tall measured at the lowest point on the slant top and 10 5/8 inches to the highest point. The decanter has a top oval opening that is 2 5/8 inches (inside diameter) at its narrowest, and 2 7/8 inches (inside diameter) at its widest, and a base diameter of 2 5/8 inches, as can be seen in the photographs. Although Waterford listed this as a carafe, I have seen it used as a vase to hold flowers because it is that beautiful. I am told that Waterford Crystal Co. made this fabulous cutting in Ireland starting in the 1950s, but I could be wrong on this time frame. Although this was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island and was pre-owned, it is in absolutely perfect "mint" condition, with no scratches anywhere, even on its bottom. I found it sitting inside a closed living room cabinet where it probably sat for many years because there are absolutely no scratches on the bottom, where they would normally be expected to be found from a crystal carafe of this age. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the item as best as I can. There are absolutely no flaws that I can see anywhere on the crystal carafe. There are no chips, cracks, fleabites, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs. The famous Gothic "Marquis By Waterford" Acid Etched Insignia can be easily seen in the last picture. This crystal carafe comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping with Insurance costs $18.85 via USPS Priority Signature Mail.
