Here we have a set of 6 gilt Essex Crystal buttons with reverse intaglio carvings of (I think) a Jack Russel terrier. I'm not certain of their age but very similar items on line pertain to be Victorian c.1900. All six buttons have a little wear to the edges but overall are in very good condition with no visible damage to the crystal. The outer rim is gold coloured and the rear, brass looking but marked "gilt". Not sure if that relates to the rim or rear though. Two of the buttons have what looks like an attachment loop. The internal backing I believe, is mother of pearl.
