In the Original Box 1800 Microcomputer System IBM 286 AT Clone 20Mb HD 2xFD 640KB

REFURBISHED      CLEAN     TESTED      WORKING

The computer was totally disassembled.  The chassis and top case washed and cleaned.  The top case has many rust spots starting to form, and a few scratches but nothing too bad, but needed to be mentioned.  An extra set to drive rails was added, and the extra drive bay cover is taped inside the case.  The motherboard was cleaned of all dirt and dust.  All socketed IC’s were reseated.  The floppy drives were cleaned of dirt and dusted, heads were cleaned, and the travel rails were lightly lubricated.  The power supply was opened, and cleaned of dirt and dust.  The fan cleaned.  The ribbon cables were cleaned.  I did some cable management to keep thing looking clean inside.

The compute was reassembled and tested. This is working great condition AT/286 Computer.  The computer boots up quickly and runs fine at the AT standard 8Mhz with the Siemens 80286 CPU.  It has a working 20Mb Seagate ST-225 Hard Drive (note: Type 1) and boots to DOS 6.22.  Both of the floppy drives were tested to work.  New removable CMOS AAA batteries were installed.  The motherboard is nice.  The HD and FD interfaces are already on the board and there is no need for additional cards.  It has a small but usable BIOS built in.  There is a modem, network, and serial/parallel cards all are untested but installed.  They all appear to be in great condition, and do not halt the system.  The power and HD LED’s are working.  The video is a quality is a Everex EVERGRAPHICS PLUS EV-231D monochrome card.  The slot covers cleaned and are very shinny.  The Hard Drive heads were ‘Parked” for shipping.

There was some battery leak damage. This was properly stopped and mostly cleaned up with white vinegar, the distilled water, and finally 99% ISO.  There are some places that may need further attention in the future.  The battery connector was badly corroded.  This was removed, via’s cleaned completely and a new pin header soldered in and is now working normally.  A blown tantalum cap was replaced on the 12v line.  The hard drive has lots of bad and recovered sectors.  Please see pictures for SpinRite II Low Level Format sector correction results.  It should be fine for a while.  The 5.25” is 360Kb and the 3.5” is 1.44Mb capacities. The edge connector for the 1.44” is a little loose.  It may need to be reconnected after shipping.

The computer does not ‘beep’ on power up. Not sure if that is the way this board works, or if there is jumper that need to be set differently.

A lot of work went into making this computer as new as possible.  It wasn't just powered up on or turned to display an image on the screen like many of the other vintage computers that are up for sale on eBay.  This computer was torn down and completely cleaned and tested.

The monitor is NOT included in the sale.

Please see photos for content and physical condition.

There is no warranty and I am selling as-is with no returns.

I work as high school teacher and the only days I can ship are a few days on Monday, and every Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I don't ship on the weekend because my box store is not open on those days, I am busy testing and posting computers for sale,  and I want to spend some time with my family.   Thus, I place a "3 days to ship" to accommodate these issues.  Thank you for your understanding.

I only use eBay Global Shipping Service on International Order, no exceptions.

I will ship to Hawaii, Alaska, PO Boxes, and PR, even though I have a block on these areas, but they will be subject to paying exact shipping cost that will be calculated.  Please ask prior to purchasing the computer.

eBay policies leave me with no choice but to mark each of my auctions with a “no return” policy.  This is being done to protect me against returns such as (buyer’s remorse).   After using the item for days and weeks, the buyer can submit a return and is not obligated to reimburse the seller for shipping charges and I have to pay for shipping charges back.  Even though it is marked a “no return, “a buyer can still submit a return if the item was not as described or the item was damaged during shipping.  Also, I do not need an eBay policy to do what is right and accept the item back if it wasn’t as described or damaged during shipping.  Keep in mind, that I mainly sell vintage computers and vintage computer accessories.  That said even though the box/item may not show damage, the internal mechanism may have been damaged or jarred from a rough truck and/or plane ride.  I will work with ALL my customers to resolve the problem.  Recently, I have had to take back items where the buyer didn’t check with mom/dad, husband/wife, or God prior to buying and did a return.  eBay forced me to take the item back.  Personally, I do not think that this is an acceptable way to return items.  Many of the sellers on here are just trying to provide for their families and this kind of previous return is not fair to the seller.  We are not Walmart or Costco that cannot absorb these financial damages.   Again, I will work with all my costumers to ensure that they are happy with the item they purchased.  Thank you for your patronage.
