I'm selling some of my collection. This is a very scarce Lyman No.2A Combination Tang Sight, patented in 1905, the "A" suffix indicates the addition of a locking lever on the left hand side of the upright stem.  It can be locked in both the down and upright positions.  There is a code "F" on the underside which indicates it can be fitted to the existing tang holes of the Stevens Favorite Rifle and, according to the Lyman catalogue page shown above, also fits the Stevens 418 and 418 1/2. The Stevens Favorite rifle was introduced in 1889 and discontinued in 1930 so I am confident that this sight can be classed as antique. The original No.2 sight without the locking feature was introduced in 1894. This sight is period correct.  The adjustable aperture is a six hole Parker Hale aperture which can be removed which will leave a larger aperture for hunting. The stem can be adjusted for height by turning the knurled section which moves the stem up and down by over 2.5cm (an inch). Hence the best of both worlds - target shooting or hunting. It is very nicely made and would cost a fortune to make today. If you've got the vintage rifle you need this scarce period sight. Please see my other auction for a Charger Loading Lee Enfield windage adjustable rear sight. Despatched with Royal Mail - Special Delivery in the UK is £8.15.
