John Rattenbury Skeaping, a renowned English sculptor and equine painter, designed animal figures for Wedgwood. His work included a series of 14 models of animal studies, ten of which went into production in 1927.
These figurines featured various animals, including Tiger, Seal, Buck, Fallow Deer, Monkeys, and Duikers. Additionally, there was a Buffalo figure based on a calf born at the London Zoo that year
Skeaping’s contribution to Wedgwood’s animal sculptures remains a fascinating part of his artistic legacy.
