Survival skills (SS)

Fulfilling Expectations for children 9 to 11 years of age, although I personally feel it has been useful to children aged 5 and up. Even as an adult I have learned so much from these books.

Older children are often not prepared to fulfill the expectations that are required of them. Failure to do so often results in frustration and disappointment for children and the people around them.

The purpose of the SS books is to provide the information and skills that children need in order to follow through with expectations. This is accomplished by providing clear information and instructions regarding expectations like cleaning one's room, getting good grades, acting appropriately in public, and choosing the right peer group.

The author, Joy Berry is a highly successful, pioneering educator and child development specialist. She discovered that the materials needed to teach children living skills were non-existent and she began filling the void by creating and developing materials that speak directly to children about everyday life issues.

“Children should be 100% responsible for all of their choices and decisions by the time they are 12 years of age. Parents need to encourage their children to make as many choices as possible as early in their lives as possible", says Joy Berry.
