This listing is for the rare vintage geneaology program, ROOTS III: Software to Make History, for vintage IBM computers! It was produced in 1988 by CommSoft.  It comes with the super-thick binder with instructions divided into 8 subsections: Getting Started, Tutorial, Keyboard and Monitor, About Roots III, Reference, Applications, Appendices, and Glossary/Index.

It also appears to have extra items beyond the main software and manual. Additional manuals in the binder include Roots Writer and Revent, Tiny-Tafel, Book Publishing Guide, and Pafnotes. Whereas the contents indicate that the 3 1/2" disk version comes with one included disk, this one has 4 of them...the main CommSoft Roots III 3 1/2 Diskette Version 3.01, the CommSoft Utility Pack 1 with Roots Writer/Revent Ver 1.00, the CommSoft Utility Pack 3 with Roots III Communication Utility Version 1.00 (GEDCOM), and the CommSoft Roots III Sampler Disk Version 1.01. There are a LOT of pages in this package...the whole shebang weighs between 4 - 5 pounds, which means a LOT of genealogy / vintage software greatness!

The binder and software look to be in very nice condition...I inherited this (along with a lot of other software and games, some still shrinkwrapped, that I plan to soon offer up for auction) from my father 35 years ago and I don't believe he ever used it...honestly, I didn't even remember that he owned an IBM back then! There's a bit of fading in the blue bars at the upper and bottom right corners of the front cover and some very minor brown age spotting on some pages. Note that I do not own an IBM computer, so while the software has been kept safe and untouched for decades, it has not been tested and I do not make any warranties regarding its functionality.

The pictures are of the exact item, so you can zoom in and inspect it all. I've set the main domestic shipping option for USPS Priority Mail, but if you'd like to save a couple of dollars you can select USPS ground advantage, and if you'd prefer UPS that option is also available.

For any IBM, vintage software or genealogy aficionado, this would make a FANTASTIC addition to your collection!

I hope you can give this a great new home! ðŸ˜ƒ
