Very old set of bronze Burmese opium weights that have seen a great deal of use. Bought at an estate sale where we were given the history of them as far as the original owners knew. Brought over to the USA from Burma around 1967, these had already been in the family for a few generations at that point so these are likely from around the turn of the century. These are not the more common reproductions you see nowadays.

Almost all the weights have been carved out on the bottoms to get them to their appropriate weights after they were molded. The bronze is aged and has a dark look to it. In a few spots the bronze is more lustrous, likely where the weights were touched by hands when being used. Some of the weights are EXTREMELY small; it’s amazing they still exist and are with the set.
