Beautiful antique Meiji era Japanese fine porcelain plate with pink ground and 3 white gourd-shaped cartouches with hand painted images of swallows. Scalloped edges. The plate is 8 7/8" in diameter and 1" in depth. It weighs 11.7 ozs.
The mark reads made by Uekido (上木堂造). This is the name of a Yokohama producer established around 1890 by Tsuji Choemon (辻長右衛門) and disappearing from the directories by the end of the Meiji period.
