Boxcar reefer pair of sides printed on cardstock, blank on back to glue onto pine, balsa wood or plastic boxcar.
Sonoma County Wines wood-style reefer# 6003, slightly weathered from rain, sun and steam smoke. These sides are based on the original full-size reefer, not any of the plastic versions of this car that have been made over the years. Most wooden reefers were painted yellow, but a company that bought the railroad car barns in Baraboo, Wisconsin, from the Ringling Brothers Circus painted most of their reefers gray and leased them out nationwide.
These kind of private-owner cars were common from the 1800s to the 1930s, when the government required all boxcars to have boring standard paint-jobs instead of being traveling billboards, the end of an era. These would fit right in with any steam or diesel-era layout. This car was originally produced by Red Ball in the 1940s based on the actual reefer.
