For auction is a nice little group of antique or vintage pincushion half dolls all presenting slightly different versions of the 1920s flapper These dolls were all made in Germany around the 1920s and I think each is from a different maker, although I have not been able  to relate these specific models to their makers in my reference books.

The largest doll is 8cm high and is numbered 1268 on her base. She is modelled as a flapper with bobbed or shingled black hair and wearing a long sleeved scoop necked white top with rose trim to the shoulder. Her porcelain skin is flesh tinted and her face well modelled , with a direct and cool gaze typical of young ladies of the era. She  is in very good condition, the only minor issue I can see is tiny paint loss to het black hair. This attractive doll can be found as Fig 81586 in Vol 8 of the Lorrins' Half Doll book but the maker is unknown.

The second  doll is 7cm high and is numbered Germany 5310 on her base. She is modelled as a flapper with bobbed red-brown hair and wearing a long sleeved white top with a bright orange collar and an unusual three- leafed clover style decoration in black. She has nicely hand painted features Her delicate hands are clasped and her face well modelled, her head tilted musingly to one side. She  is in very good condition.

The third flapper is a tiny and delicate and pretty arms away model measuring just 5 cm. She is in flesh tinted porcelain with a number incised on her base that looks like 76??.She has brown bobbed hair and a green headband and is once again posed gazing thoughtfully. Her separate arms are held at chest height and her delicate hands have delineated fingers. Her left hand is perfect, with the right one I am not certain. There maybe a minute chip to her forefinger but it does not feel rough so this may be just the way she is modelled. Because she is so petite it is very hard to determine.

These three form a lovely little set of 1920s flappers.
