"Edinburgh from the Firth of Forth."
A genuine antique tinted sepia print taken from Lawson's "Scotland Delineated" which was first published in 1847 - 1854. The last photo is for information only, showing a title page from the volume.

A lovely view of the city, with Arthur's Seat and The Crags visible on the left, and the Castle towards the right, all seen through lively shipping scenes in the foreground.

"Scotland Delineated", (issued with a text by John Parker Lawson)  is a particularly fine record of Scotland in the mid-19th century, the work using art by some notable artists of the time, including William Leighton Leitch and David Roberts. This example is by Clarkson Frederick Stanfield. Lithography by Day & Son.
