Product Information
  • Bugle Batten Timber Screws are most commonly used for structural framing, roofing battens, furniture, gates, fences, work benches, pergolas, carports, decking planks and landscaping. Easy to use, can be installed using 5mm hex/Allen key or 5mm hex drive bit in a power tool. The special long sharp self drilling point with a flute (Type 17) that cuts the timber fibres as it is screwed in. Timber fibres are collected in the flute and reduces the potential for splitting. The self drilling type 17 point can pierce light gauge steel up to 0.6mm withour predrilling. The ribbed bugle head self embeds and can be driven flush or countersunk below the timber surface and are used where finish is a primary concern
  • Material / Coating: Marine Grade Stainless Steel A4-70 G316 is the ultimate corrosion resistance fastener. Designed to be used in all conditions. It is the best material for marine, coastal, chemical and food environments. Stainless steels are largely non-magnetic but it is not uncommon for stainless steel fasteners to show a small degree of magnetism. This is partly due to the work-hardening of the product during the manufacturing process. Marine Grade Stainless Steel A4-70 G316 can be easily identified by the following markings: A4, A4-70, A4-80,316 or G316
  • What does TPI stand for?: TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length on the fastener. If the screw is less than an inch count ½” of an inch and multiply by 2
  • How to measure the length of a Timber Screw: Fastener length is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
  • Thread Length: have been included as a guide only. Due to stock being sourced from multiple suppliers variations do exist. We will always ship the same brand and thread length but subsequent orders may be another brand and the thread length may be different. If thread length is critical, please message us prior to ordering as we are happy to physically check our stock and advise prior to shipping
  • Need a Driver Bit?: A large range of suitable driver bits are available in the "Driving" section of our website
